Lawyers in our employment law practice defend employers being sued by employees and advise them on employment law matters. They also represent employers before state and federal administrative agencies, including the Oregon Bureau of Labor and the federal Equal Employment Opportunities Commission.
We defend employers in claims involving the Americans with Disabilities Act, state disability and workers’ compensation discrimination law, age discrimination, sexual harassment, and wage and hour claims. We represent employers facing class action claims, public entities in Section 1983 litigation, and substantive and procedural due process claims.
Partners in our employment group have extensive federal and state court trial experience. On average, we take several employment cases to verdict every year—which provides employers a realistic perspective about litigation based on actual trial results.
Our employment attorneys also work with employers to prevent workplace disputes by providing training programs and advice to HR professionals on sexual harassment issues, documentation of performance problems, federal and state leave law compliance and ADA compliance. The group’s attorneys also review employee policies and handbooks for compliance with applicable laws.
