Our employment law practice includes both defending employers that have been sued by employees and advising employers on employment law matters. The attorneys in the group also regularly represent employers before state and federal administrative agencies, including the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries and the federal Equal Employment Opportunities Commission.
The group’s experience includes defending employers in claims involving the Americans with Disabilities Act, state disability and workers’ compensation discrimination law, age discrimination, pregnancy discrimination, sexual harassment, and wage and hour claims. The group also represents employers facing class action claims, and represents public entities in Section 1983 litigation, and substantive and procedural due process claims. The partners in this group have extensive federal and state court trial experience, and each, on average, takes several employment cases to verdict each year. With the benefit of its extensive trial experience, the group is able to offer employers a realistic perspective in litigation based on actual jury trial results.
Our employment attorneys also work actively with employers to prevent disputes in the workplace. The group provides training programs and advice to human resources professionals on sexual harassment investigation, documentation of performance problems, federal and state leave law compliance and ADA compliance. The group’s attorneys also review employee policies and handbooks for compliance with applicable laws.
