Gioia is a civil litigator with experience defending employers and public entities in state and federal courts in Oregon. Gioia has assisted employers and public entities with matters from pre-suit through trial in all types of cases including 42 U.S.C. section 1983 claims, First Amendment claims, ADA claims, and whistleblower claims. She also defends professionals in malpractice matters.
Associate Representative Cases:
- Assisted in obtaining voluntary dismissal of invasion of privacy claim.
- Assisted with Anti-SLAPP motions dismissing cases in both state and federal court against an attorney.
- Assisted in obtaining summary judgment in a $13.7M medical malpractice lawsuit.
- Assisted in obtaining dismissal with prejudice of a series of tort claims brought by parents against school district.
Law Clerk Representative Cases:
- Assisted in obtaining dismissal in $15M federal case alleging several constitutional violations against a psychiatrist.
- Assisted on a successful motion for summary judgment in $2M employment disability discrimination case in Oregon state court.
